Abstract. This issue of The Chemical Educator is devoted to the Proceedings from a workshop symposium that I organized for the week-end of May 10–11, 1997. The two-day event was held in the Willard H. Dow Chemical Sciences laboratory building on the central campus of The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Reports are included from seventeen workshops led by representatives from projects conducted by large, systemic initiatives as well as efforts by individuals in small departments.
