Chemistry Education in China I: Basic Information

Abstract. The basic situation about the chemistry education, chemical research, and chemistry enterprise development is introduced. In the past 55 years, China’s government has established a relatively complete system for chemistry education, chemical research, and chemistry enterprises; and this system has contributed greatly to the rapid social and economic development in China. The scale and the main content for both secondary chemistry education and higher chemistry education are introduced with emphasis on the chemistry education reform in secondary school and the rapid increase of departmental units for chemistry education in postsecondary institutes during the past 5 years.
