We describe our version of a bismuth (III)-mediated allylation reaction of benzaldehyde dimethyl acetal with allyltrimethylsilane. The vinylic hydrogens of the resulting ether can be identified in the 1H NMR spectrum through a partial analysis of the NMR splitting patterns.
