On the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the birth of chemist, editor, and educator Arthur Becket Lamb (1880–1952), this article recounts his life and achievements with an emphasis on his longtime editorship of the Journal of the American Chemical Society, where he introduced the practice of anonymous peer review.
