Robert Hare (1781–1858): An Early American Scientist and Inventor on the 225th Anniversary of His Birth

Abstract. On the occasion of the 225th anniversary of the birth of Robert Hare (1781–1858), one of the United States’ early great scientists, this article recounts his life and achievements with an emphasis on his inventions such as the oxy-hydrogen blowtorch.
