The Center for Authentic Science Practice in Education (CASPiE) is a research-based undergraduate laboratory curriculum targeting first- and second-year chemistry students. During the development of CASPiE curriculum materials, the development team faced challenges such as cost of chemicals and equipment, limited student time in the laboratory, and accessibility of the curriculum text. The strategies employed by research scientists and educational researchers to overcome these challenges are described.
