We propose a straightforward and simple derivation of the charge-charge, charge-dipole, dipole-dipole, etc, interactions that are commonly used todescribe the interaction between molecules in most textbooks on physical chemistry. We consider arbitrary charge distributions and therefore obtain results of sufficiently general validity.
