Abstract. This report focuses on the triumphal career of Maud Menten, who faced many obstacles to a career in the biomedical sciences. Yet, this report focuses on her strengths, her creative approaches to biochemistry and her approaches to mentoring students. This also illustrates her extracurricular activities that reveals her devotion to the arts, resulting in a liberal arts approach to both her work and her career. The fact that her promotion to Full Professor occurred at age 70, the year she retired illustrates limitations that continue to plague women in STEM careers.
