Green chemistry laboratory experiments for the hydrogenation of alkenes are very limited. Therefore, there is a need to develop labs that use green hydrogenation catalysts. This experiment uses SiliaCat Pd(0) which is an excellent hydrogenation catalyst and can be used to saturate a wide variety of alkenes and alkynes with experimental yields ranging from 60–95%.
