need exists in the laboratory for the wireless transmission of data between
instruments and safely located computers. This article describes how to
establish communication between the latest and most widely used PC operating
system (Windows 10) and wireless technology (Bluetooth LE) using open source resources. Specifically,
an HM-10 Bluetooth 4.0 BLE is used to transmit information between a
microcontroller development board and a PC. This setup allows chemists to
develop instruments or collect data without concern of chemical spills on
computers or computer cables.
