Abstract. The year 2019 marks the 150th aniversary of the discovery of the periodic table. Along with others, Russian chemist Dmitri Mendeleev sought to find a system that would correlate chemical properties among the elements. In 1869 he formulated an arrangement grouping elements with similar properties. What sets Mendeleev apart from all others is the bold step he took by leaving blanks in the periodic table for elements he though should exist, but were yet to be discovered.
