(2020) pp 14-17 Photoacoustic Harmony: A Demonstration of Musical Concepts
through Photoacoustics
Trevor A. Paratore and Han Jung Park* Department of Chemistry and Physics, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, 615 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga, TN, hanjung-park@utc.edu Published: 27 January 2020 Abstract. Photoacoustic
spectroscopy was applied to demonstrate musical notes within a gas cell and to
create harmony. The adequate sensory demonstration of the PA effect may be of
particular interest in chemistry and thermodynamic pedagogy. This demonstration
also allows students to find the relationship between music and science.
