Beskar, Spotchka, Rhydonium and Other Chemistry Lessons from Star Wars Series The Mandalorian

Abstract. The use of popular culture can generate interest for students in Chemistry courses. The Star Wars universe created by George Lucas has a significant impact on popular culture. This article examines chemistry lessons and concepts identified in the first Star Wars live-action series, The Mandalorian, which can be used in General Chemistry courses. Among these are topics and scenes that can serve not only to generate interest but to use as an anchor in reinforcing in teaching some chemical concepts.   The fictional elements such as beskar (Bk) and rhydonium (Ry) were used to explore chemical and physical properties in the general chemistry classroom..
