My apologies to Dr. Scerri. Any perceived alteration in the meaning of the quoted text was inadvertent. However, it did seem to me at the time that Dr. Scerri was skeptical about using quantum mechanics to justify restructuring the periodic table. Dr. Scerri’s view is important in this regard, because he has published extensively over the past decade and his work is well-known. Since his views now are more in accord with the fdps (or eight-period) format, it appears that we are all headed in the same direction after all. I hope that by working together along these lines we can make the periodic table more accessible while at the same time more representative of the factual realities.
