Abstract. A recycling protocol is described for the recovery and reformulation of common solvents in teaching and research laboratories. Recovery of mixed solvents is shown to be facilitated by the use of solution density as a convenient and accurate assay method. The procedure is explicitly illustrated for mixtures of ethyl acetate/hexane. An effective procedure is also reported for recovery of wash acetone.
